KES iPads in Action

Below are some sample student products using iPads in our 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms. Teachers and students have learned to better use the devices as a valuable tool in the educational process on a daily basis.

Students from Mrs. Rich's class use the Educreation App to create presentations with full narration on each slide.  Students gathered images, arranged colors, added finder drawn art or designs to come up with these content rich products.  This was their first use of the app.

Students from Mrs. Beckmann’s Class used the Sock Puppet app to share information that they learned from biographies of famous people.

Students from Mrs. Roach’s class practice their reading fluency and public speaking as they video tape each other reading fables from their recent study of folktales.

Students from Mrs. Beckmann’s class created a book interview questionnaire and then created video interviews about some books that they had recently read.

Students from Mrs. Demings’ class use a geometry app on the iPad to test their knowledge of the perimeter concepts.

Mrs. Brauer Explains how she uses to the Teach Me Second Grade app to meet the needs of all students.

Stick Pick used to to help foster better questioning techniques including randomness and the used of specific cognitive verbs.

Over past two years, KES has made a real commitment to getting additional iPads into the hands of students to help foster learning on a daily basis.

SAMR Model

The SAMR model helps teachers and educators understand and better integrate  technology into their teaching and learning. This model was created by Dr Robin Puentudura with the explicit aim of helping teachers in designing, developing and integrating digital media to increase students overall academic achievements. The four levels of this model are : Substitution, augmentation, modification and redefinition.
